Guest guest
We do have to remember that each of us are different cases, even to some extent in the same families. I think as long as we are aware of possible issues, and are being followed up for them, that's the best we can do. My neuro has mentioned prescription drugs that she " wouldn't prescribe YET " , although I was having symptoms. One of them causes chronic diarrhea, and now that I'm on the medication, I realize why she was hesitant to prescribe it (I ended up going to a GI doctor who prescribed it for me after my tests were still abnormal). Difficult to have a normal life when you have that " hanging over your head " . And Depends just wouldn't hack it for that job... Another drug was prescribed by my neuro, and my family doctor said " the only people who get this are near death " which I wasn't at the time, but had a lot of unmaneageable symptoms. That one I decided not to take (luckily didn't drop off prescription to be filled). My current meds are kind of weird - they are always out of stock at the pharmacy, and I try to tell them, " Look, I'll need this prescription every month from now on " , and they just don't get it. So now I call when I have more than a week's worth left, and it takes them at least as much time to sort it out. BTW, my liver enzymes are all perfect, yet my ammonia level is high if I'm not on lactulose. I don't know if it's a related thing, but it struck the GI doctor as extremely strange. Take care, RH > Steve, > thank you for the post and link, When the neuro and I started the Depakote > we were aware of the risk however we both decided to go for it as my seizures > have not stopped and I have been on every drug out there. Before starting > the depakote we ran my liver enzyme levels and ammonia. Both were very low. > Ammonia was zero. so we decided if anyone can tolerate it it would be me. > I have been on it now for about 6 months and we run my liver and ammonia > every three months and still way below normal. > I appreciate your concern and post as without friends like you out there we > wouldnt have the information and knowledge that is helping all of us so much. > thank you > > > >
