Guest guest
I just had a visit with my family doc and got the results of my MRI (it only took 4 years to get it repeated!! after the first abnormalities) She isn't sure of the interpretation so she is forwarding it to my mito doc. Just wondered if anyone knew anything about this. Apparently it showed multiple areas of " small T2 intense lesions in the cerebral white matter. " It also said these could indicate ischemic disease, demyelination or vasculitis. Any comments on whether this relates to mito or not would be appreciated, Celia
Guest guest
Celia, The only thing I can say is that white matter lesions are associated with some forms of mito, but they also show up in a variety of other disorders. Hope your mito doc can give you better answers or recommend further testing to pinpoint cause. Guest guest
Did they do an MRI of the spine as well? Some times the lesions on the spine seem to cause more significant problems than those in the brain. Anyway, it's good they keep investigating, hopefully they will find some answers. There is also a possibility of the diagnosis "atypical MS" (or whatever the equivalent would be in English). It's a diagnosis used when someone has symptoms of MS, but not enough clinical findings to support a "typical" MS diagnosis. The reason for that is because studies have shown that the people with atypical MS are helped by MS medication just as much as those with the typical findings. Therefor it makes sense to use a diagnosis that will "allow" the use of those medications. Congratulations and good luck!love/Reb>> Just heard from the clinic - apparently the MRI of my brain (yay, I've got> proof I've got one!) are "normal".
