Guest guest
I can't imagine you offending anyone when you say you hate insurance companies! I have a son who died when he was 4. He spent 6 months in ICU from the time he was 12-18 months old and the whole hospital stay cost $395,000. We had a 2 million policy. Just before he was put in the hospital for the last time I was told we still had between 6-700,000 coverage left. He was in ICU for 6 weeks again before he died and after he died we started getting bills from the hospital saying our insurance had run out and we were responsible. I knew there was no way we could have even approached $600,000 in a 6 week stay with no surgeries. I was in no condition to be fighting it at this point (I'm still not actually) so I gave my sister power of attorney and she contacted the insurance company and said I wanted a complete list of everything that added up to $2 million. They had to determine it somehow right, so they should have been able to show how it added up. They told her his records were already in microfiche and inaccessible, only weeks after he died. My only question is, where do they manage to find so many people with no morals to work for them????????? Guest guest
The question about being WITHOUT morals is a check list item near marital status. The rat bastards. I am so sorry about your son. This made me cry http://laurynhb.tripod.com/index.html - is a web site my 17 year old daughter created. There is some info on health insurance law that may be helpful for folks. There is a guy in California specializing in suing HMO's and health insurance companies. It may be worth a call. Email me privately if you have questions. Take care A Jeffs mom Re: RE: Insurance Woes I can't imagine you offending anyone when you say you hate insurance companies! I have a son who died when he was 4. Guest guest
Thanks to all who replied to my vent. Hopefully we are on the road to straightening things out--although I have no doubt they will make at least one more attempt to get out of paying. If I totally lose this battle, the most they can deny coverage is for 1 year which will be September 1. I hope they are ready, because if that happens, come September 1 my son will see every damn doctor in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex(and maybe some elsewhere as well.)To , I was especially saddened by your story. At least take comfort in knowing that there is a special place in hell for those people. All the best,
Guest guest
Thanks, but we decided not to sue because lawsuits are so stressful and we don't need any more of that. We could have sued the first hospital he was in too. But instead we got sued twice unfairly while all this was going on, and lawsuits are hell even if you're the one who's right. It would be nice to see insurance companies forced to pay up but I'm afraid I don't have the reserves to fight for it myself. They know that too, that your life is so hard you can't fight them, and they're very happy to do what they can to make it even harder. It's definitely a fallen world we live in! That sounds impressive that your 17-year-old created that website. Think I'll go have a look. Guest guest
, That's what I always do, try to arrange things so the insurance company ends up paying in the end anyway as much as possible. And I am angry at what happened to us, but I'll just pray that things change in the insurance industry and that would be comforting. I know lots of people will end up in hell and that God will make sure there's justice in the end, but I don't want to wish hell on anyone. I take it very seriously knowing what just a little temporary suffering feels like and I really can't wish worse suffering on anyone. They're all living in ignorance now and they are responsible for their actions but they must be ignorant too. Hope things end up working out for you better than you could hope for.
