Hi

Kirkman is good brand, although they didn't suit Sam, I have several friends

who swear by them. The hyper drunk type behaviour could well be die off

reaction with the good bugs in Probio getting rid of the bad stuff in the

gut. Did you go straight in with 2 caps - may help to reduce dose but at

least you know somethings happening.

Hi Group members, my 3year old (ASD) becomes hyper ( " drunk " ) after

ingesting 2 capsules of the pro-bio gold. Have any of you

experienced this with your kids, and are there better pro-biotics on

the market than Kirkman's pro-bio gold? Regards,

My son did poorly on ProBio Gold also, but only after I got over 1/2 capsule

per day. I started him on very, very low doses, about 1/8 capsule, as this

probiotic is quite strong. The probiotic my son personally does best on is

ProCulture Gold. I give him four of these a day, and if I reduce the dose, he

regresses a bit. I believe the ProCulture Gold (also sold by Kirkman's)

specificially works on the Clostridia problem my son has had.

I guess some kids just do better on some types of probiotics than on others.

Maybe try a few different types/brands? And definitely lower the dose, would

be my suggestion.

There are many good brands of probiotics. (We use Florajen from the pharmacy

and Culturelle from www.vrp.com) I agree with Mandi that if you gave 2 at

once, try lowering the dose first for about a week and see if that helps.

Probiotics can cause die-off, especially if they are displacing a bunch of

the " bad " stuff. One of the things many probiotics can do is produce

digestive enzymes, which can also contribute to die-off.

Might have been yeast die off, you can consider reducing the dose.

I have heard the best things about Culturelle, which you can also

purchase from Kirkman.

My son was very sensitive to Pro bio gold as well as other probiotics. He

acted kind of silly and wiggly and giggly on *ONE* pro bio gold when we

started out (he was 90 lbs, then). We had to 'ride out' 1 week plus of the

silly behavior, then it subsided. After this, we slowly increased the

dosage by 1/2 capsule every couple weeks, until we were finally at 4 a

day. I firmly believe that some bad stuff needed to die for him to be able

to take these, although we had some nasty gut bugs later, even with the pro

bio gold in place - guess there's no guarantee.
