I'm not being sarcastic, so please don't think that. But > does she put it in her mouth or something? > > > Sal's mom Hi - I know you are not being sarcastic - that is an excellent question. I used to think that it was extreme to worry about stuff like shampoo and soap and tape, until we had an incident. We were working with my son and his behaviorist and using commercial Play Doh. I knew it had wheat flour in it, but I was watching him very closely and made sure he didn't eat it and then we washed our hands afterwards. Well, we noticed during the session that he was pressing the Play Doh into his neck - almost like he was pressing it into his glands. That night he was tantruming and non-verbal and he had eczema all over his cheeks. It took us three days to figure out what it was that was bothering him. In fact, it was from this list that I got the clue. Somebody asked the question about if anyone had seen a reaction from just touching Play Doh and I had a light bulb moment. I realized that indeed my son had absorbed the gluten through his skin. When you think about it, it isn't so far fetched. Nicotine patches work through the skin too. Anyway - I know it sounds like over kill, but we have found that our little guy is pretty sensitive. We used Huggies since they have velcro closures - but he is able to pull them off himself, which can be a problem. Hope that helps. Guest guest
I found that a pair of underwear over the diaper ( with a really cool favorite character) did the trick for us. Thanks to tellie tubbies and blues clues underwear the velcro was left alone. It seemed to bring potty training around much quicker. I hope this helps! _Donna
