Guest guest
, Sorry to hear about your scarey episode. I found the following site to be pretty interesting. http://www.medfriendly.com/periventricularwhitematter.html I can't answer your question about the SLE showing up on an MRI - hopefully someone here can. Guest guest
, I am sorry that you had an SLE. I hope you are doing better. Do you have use of your left arm? I have had some SLE's, none of which, have shown up on MRI's. About a year and a half ago I had one where my left arm was basically " paralyzed " , for about 9 weeks. This SLE did not show up on MRI. I do have a small lesion that has shown up and it is also in the white matter. My neurologist, at the time, said that he wasn't sure if the lesion was caused by the SLE's that I have had or just by the migraines I get. I am sorry I can't be of much help. My thoughts are with you. Smiles and hugs, a On Tue, 29 Mar 2005 09:23:18 EST MitomomX3@... writes: Hi all..I have been inthe hospital for a SLE and also have a question.. Guest guest
, I cannot directly answer your question either but know from my experience that I probably had an SLE one time back in 1997 when my left side went numb also. Shortly after I was diagnosed in 1997 I had testing done at the Medical College of WI. I had a MRI spectropsky (sp) done. That is supposed to show the lactic acid in the brain. I was told I have " evidence " of seizues " whatever that means. I did not have time to wait for Dr Tick who was tied up in traffic and Dr Peltier had other appointments waiting. So, that is my experience. Janet Sample Re: : SLE and lesion question , Sorry to hear about your scarey episode. Guest guest
, I too am sorry that you have had an SLE. It must be difficult for you to deal with your own issues and those of your children at the same time. Leisions on the brain are seen with Mito along with white matter. Members of my family (including myself) show this on MRIs. All of this is hard to accept and can be pretty scary. Please take care of yourself. Hopefully, they have done the appropriate blood work to check your lactic acid levels. Alice
Guest guest
Alice (or anyone) what is this 'white matter' that is seen on MRIs? Is it related to SLEs? Guest guest
Annie The brain consists of both white matter and gray matter. It is usally used in reports to help the doctor know the area of a lesion better. My son has calcifications on a MRI that are thought to be due to the severe migraines that he had for years. laurie > > > Alice (or anyone) what is this 'white matter' that is seen on MRIs?
