I can see how you feel that you are messing up the family plans, but

don't make any changes until you have your decision about what option

you will follow first.

You will be in my thoughts as you go for your appointment. I hope

hubby or a friend is able to go with you.

Hugs,

laurie

Laurie, I needed to hear that, I wont change any plans yet. yes Bob

is coming with me to the appointment, I thank God he is able to

schedule his work around me and Matt anytime. Funny, Matts

GodMother " Bubby " called me at 8am this morning she wants to come too.

She is like a sister to me. I havent told my parents yet, and this is

weighing heavy on my heart, as my mother and me had a falling out a

few years ago over the mito dx, and my father is just going to fall to

pieces when he hears this news. I know i cant worry about thier

reactions, but I know how painful this is for my husband and children,

and I just dont want to cause stress and grief as my parents are

elderly. I figure i wont tell them until after gather all the

information I can from the specialist. Mito was alot easier to

explain to them than this will be. I will let ya know how it goes

today. Im ready and in gear for this appointment, I will feel alot

better when i know what i have to deal with. Thanks again for those

words of wisdom! Hugs, Barb

I can definitely relate to your situation, the car was all packed and we were on

our way to Grove, OK for our semi-yearly crappie fishing trip. My husband

dropped me off for my dr appt, which I thought was going to be routine (ha). I

was told that I was loosing blood somewhere so they did some testing for which I

was to call back later in the day for results, when I called my husband to pick

me up (my youngest son) and Debbie (my foster-daughter) were in the car

and I found that we were enroute to Oklahoma. I figured OK I'll call when we

get there but when we got there my son Bill had called twice and left messages

that the doctor's office had called and I needed to get right back to them. It

was after 5:00, so I called Bill and told him that I would try in the morning he

was livid as the doctor's office had called three times and had finally told him

that I needed to be hospitalized ASAP. Early the next morning I finally got the

nurse on the phone and told her that we

couldn't leave now as we would lose our money and the kids would be

disapointed, in turn she asked me how my husband and children would feel if they

lost me? With this thought in mind I told them what the nurse had told me, I

never saw those three move so fast in all of my life. When I called the nurse

back she said the doctor needed me to stop at the ER in Grove as if we were

coming home he was going to call the hospital to leave orders, they did the

requested blood work and I had to have a blood transfusion as who would have

guessed that those " tarry black stools " meant I was bleeding internally. I

spent nearly a month in St. Francis hospital but my husband, both my sons and my

foster-daughter told me that there was nothing more important to them than me

and my health. Bill was ready to come to pick me up and bring me home when I

called him to tell him we were leaving, he had filled up with gas, called our

neighbors to feed the dog, gotten time off work and was getting ready to

call Oklahoma to tell me he was coming after me. When my health was better

sure enough, just as they all told me there were still crappie in Grand Lake and

the people where we always stayed gave us half off the next time we were there.

Just remember that you are a very important commodity to your family.

Good Luck and God Bless, Dolores

Barb,

Just try to remember you " YOU " aren't causing anyone any problems or

grief, the cancer is doing that and you sure didn't ask for it to come

and visit you again. You need to focus on yourself and let others deal

in their own way.

I appreciate that our family has been able to schedule medical

appointments in conjunction with vacations (Atlanta + Disney World).

I hope things get settled down and you're able to plan again.

As for the " non-refundable " part, you can always ask about refunding

or booking another time. Or even transferring the vacation to

another family. We did not get hurricane insurance when we went to

Fla. last year, but still got a complete refund except for a $30

booking fee because the resort was severely damaged. A similar

situation happened with a neighbor - her daughter accepted enrollment

at one school, to be near her ill dad, but in the next few weeks it

became clear he would be passing away within a few weeks. Her mom

called up a few of the other school's she was accepted at, and got

her back on the list for " accepted to the school but not decided

yet " , and also asked for financial aid to be rerun for her being a

single mom and with only part-time work. Yet everyone said " they'll

never let you get back on the list once you rejected them " .

People will care if you give them a chance, even if you're dealing

with a " faceless corporation " - somewhere there's a person.

Anyway, Barb, I'm sending good thoughts your way, hope it is just a

cyst, and don't worry about your guests - 60 people should be able to

take care of anything :) And let your doctors know that you want to

attend the party - they might be able to help you do that by

scheduling things a certain way.

Take care,

RH
