Guest guest
Hello My Long Lost Friend, It is so nice that you are back on line, Debbie. I missed you and thought of you often. I am happy to hear that you got a definite dx and are seeing a terrific Mito doc. I remember a long time ago you were having trouble finding a good Mito doc to care for you. Sorry to hear that your sons are now starting to show signs of Mito. And your sister's children too. I often wondered if Mito and MS have a connection also. For my Great GrandMother and Grandmother were dx'd with MS years and years ago. I wonder if it was truly MS or if it was Mito, and they just didn't have the knowledge to test for Mito then. And my Uncle has Parkinsons disease. My sister has alot of the Mito signs as well as her daughter who is now pregnant and expecting her first in May. Your mini horses sound lovely. Do you show them? Breed them? or just have them for fun? What is it with the severe pain in the thigh area? I also have this and have wondered if it was connected to my dysmotility. Did Dr. Cohen say what he thought your thigh pain was from? Good to have you back on line. Hope you stay for awhile. Btw, did you go to the UMDF Conference that was held in Pitts. in Aug.? If so I missed you. :-( Hugs, Ann-Marie Palmerton, Pa. Back Online Hi Everyone, My name is Debbie and I have been back online about a month now after being gone for about 4 years. I sold my computer to buy a miniature horse and just now was able to get another one. I am a patient of Dr. Cohen's along with my sister Barb. She was the first to get a mito diagnosis. We have been going to Dr. Cohen for about four years. Our symptoms include severe Fatigue, weakness, Restless leg syndrome, dysmotility, gastric reflux, extreme leg pain, especially in the thigh area. Barb had a major heart attack in 1990 at the age of 43. Four years later she had a small stroke. She had no known reasons for her problems, like smoking or high colesterol. Dr. Cohen said both were due to the mito. Barb has three children, a daughter 36 diagnosed with MS, a daughter 30 probable MS and a son 34 who also has health issues. I have two sons 28 and 25 with signs starting to show. Barb and I have a sister who is 60, she has Huntington's Disease. My mother and my Grandfather also had Huntington's. I have read that there may be a connection between the mito and the Huntington's. Ginger is now unable to walk and is now having trouble eating. I have found this group to be so helpful and informative about all the problems and treatments for mito. I am glad to be back. I forgot to say I live in Mercer, Pennsylvania. It's about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh and about 30 miles east of Younstown, Ohio. Is there anyone near me?
