Guest guest
Hi, I'm 57 and have a mitochondrial encephalo myopathy (no 100% diagnose after 4 years). What I have noticed that if I use the antibiotic doxycycline it makes me terrible tired (not with other antibiotics). After a few days of stopping everything is " normal " . The same with Q10. Is there a " antidote " for this problem, except not using it. Where does it " attack " the mito. Why does it make me so tired, while Q10 is standard for mito. Maybe somebody has the same problem or an answer. Thanks Bob
Guest guest
Bob Everyone is so different and a small group of us can't take CoQ10. Are you taking it with Carnitor and some kind of oil such as Vit. E or olive oil? Have you tried more than one brand? Are you starting on a very small dose and building it up in small steps? What dose of CoQ10 have you tried? Have you had a CoQ10 blood level checked? laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2005 13:25:14 -0000 > To: > Subject: Doxycycline and Q10 problems > > > Hi, > I'm 57 and have a mitochondrial encephalo myopathy (no 100% diagnose > after 4 years). > What I have noticed that if I use the antibiotic doxycycline it > makes me terrible tired (not with other antibiotics). Guest guest
Bob, A lot of medications pass through the mitochondria on their way to do the job they are meant to do and can cause some damage. I feel more tired most of the time I have an infections. It takes a lot of energy also for the body to fight an infection and we don't have any " spare " energy for this process. I don't have anything to add on the Coq10 that Laurie hasn't already addressed, but I agree with her. bik1324 wrote: >Hi, >I'm 57 and have a mitochondrial encephalo myopathy (no 100% diagnose >after 4 years). >What I have noticed that if I use the antibiotic doxycycline it >makes me terrible tired (not with other antibiotics). Guest guest
Antibiotics can make you extremely dehydrated. That's why they always tell you to drink a lot of water. Dehydration can make you feel lousy, and excessively tired. Have you tried any other antibiotics with the Q10 ? It's also possible that the Doxycycline isn't the right drug for your body. We're all different. I personally can't take Azithromycin. It makes my Mito worse. Make sure you discuss other alternatives with your doc when you have an infection. There are quite a few antibiotics out there. Good luck, bug
