,

THis is what I was told by our doctor and dietician....I have a 3

year old keep in mind. This is a summary in my words almost of what I

was told...

3 year olds are finicky to begin with and none of their diets have

exactly what they are supposed to have in it daily.

A 3 year old should have 3 oz. of protien a day (I am not sure if

they meant just my 3 year old or all...Mason has some other diestary

issues so this is why I wasn't sure)

They need 2 C. of dairy, this can be cooked into a food or from a

glass ect.

Their main concern was zinc, which comes from meat and my son is a

HUGE meat eater, he eats 1/2 of an 8 oz steak in one sitting, not

counting the rest of the meat he eats in a day.

They were also concerned about EFA, which I add artificially and

they felt I should continue to do so. They also have us add fats to

almost every meal he eats and again keep in mind that he is a pretty

hefty little boy, he just turned 3 and weighs 42 lbs. but he is only

in the 25% in height.

They want to eat 2 servings of fruit a day (he has bowel issues too

LOL)and we give it to him fresh, not juice and he gets 6 servings of

grain products (ones he is allowed to have of course) per day.He is

also to eat 4 servings of veggies. The serving size for a toddler of 3

(or again, maybe they meant just Mason...he had a surgery and I know

his tummy size is not the same as it would have been without the

surgery) is supposed to be at least 1/4C. I hope this helps, if not,

let me know what else you need to know. I was also told that if one

day he eats totally yucky (like lives on grain) and then the next day

he eats a lot of veggies and so on, then at the end of the week it

will even itself out. I hope this helped.
