Thanks for your quick response. They did do some testing on her which

showed that her Kidneys were taking out too much phosphate and warned us that

she

may deal with brittle bone syndrome, which is why I was so surprised at the

Orthos response to her last night. We have been pumping in extra calcium since

we found this out. I am more worried about the circulation to her hand right

now. Her fingers are almost black in color and still look like balloons and

then the index being cold and all. Ughhhhh maybe I am worrying too much about

this one. LOL

I had a few broken bones when I was a kid, but I don't recall having any

problems with healing. Of course I really wasn't symtomatic at the time

either. I hope things start healing for her soon. Does she get enough

calcium?

Get her to a doctor NOW, you don't want her to lose the hand.

I would take her to the doctor ASAP. That doesn't sound right

with the fingers being almost black and ballooning up. Keep us updated

when you can!

As others said, I'd take her ASAP to the doctor and/or hospital

(i.e., today, not Monday), and go to a university or other large

center where they might have some good pediatric specialists if

possible. If you are overworried and it's nothing, at least you'll

know, and if there's something to be done, better today than two days

from now.

It really torques me off when a doctor, let alone a specialist, poo-

poos a parent's concerns. She sounds like she needs an MRI or CAT

scan or something to figure out what is going on.

I've only had one broken bone (collarbone), and my parents didn't

think it was broken, so I went 6 weeks without treatment and no

sleep. I was 12 at the time, and was always told I was a

hypochondriac, so I didn't push the " constant pain " issue. Then I

found a big bump on my collarbone, and they finally took me for an

Xray and found a complete collarbone break.

Take care,

Hi ,

When I hear the word " Black " associated with a break or injury the first thing I

think of is " Necrosis " which means the " death of cells in a tissue or organ

caused by disease or injury.

This is dangerous and you should get her back to the ER immediately. You

certainly don't want her to lose her finger or worse her hand and time is not on

your side.

If you don't like what the ER doctor or Ortho tells you when you go back DEMAND

another doctor for a second opinion. And don't worry about pissing them off, it

is your daughter's finger not the doctor's child that is in trouble.

Please let us know what happens when you get home from the ER. Keeping you and

Kristalynn in my prayers.

Hugs,

Ann-Marie
