I am so glad you found a great endo. It means so much to have doctors

who can listenm, care and not back away.

Good luck on the upcoming neuro appointments.

Hi All

I just got back from an EXCELLENT endocrinology appt and I had to

pass along the doctor's name. Dr. Yalamas at MGH is a

reproductive endocrinologist at MGH who understands mito! She looked

at all my confusing weird test results and said " it's unusual, but

mito can cause unusual labs depending on how the body is using

energy, even on a particualr day. " AMEN!

She's checking hormone levels and other things, and she's looking

forward to working closely with Dr. Korson to help manage my care.

Amazing! She listened to what I was saying and didn't act skeptical

or make things seem like I wasn't trying hard enough. It was

definitely worth the 8 dollars in parking and the 45 minute scenic

tour of Boston that I got when I was trying to find the highway to go

home.

As far as how I'm doing, I'm on insulin 4 times a day to keep tight

control. I had blood tests done to see if I have type 1 or 2 since

my presentation isn't classic for either. Dr. Yalamas did say that

my reaction to metformin is why folks with mito shouldn't take the

drug. I'm still having muscle problems and the exercise test came

back abnormal. I see neuro on Wed and Dr. Korson on Thurs. Wish me

luck!

Good docs visits are few and far between for most of us, so I am very

happy to hear you have found a winner.

glad you found a great endo. I fired the one my gp recommended because she did

not believe me when I told her my blood sugar went up with physical activity but

down with mental activity like working on the computer.

My gp believed me and recommended I see a nurse practioner on the staff at the

clinic about an insulin pump. She is great and in our discussion she said that

I am not the only patient she has seen that their blood sugar goes up with

exercise.

The endo you found sounds like a keeper.

Endocrinologist in Boston

Wish me

luck!

Personal attacks are not permitted on the list and anyone who sends one is

automatically moderated or removed depending on the severity of the attack.
