Guest guest
Oh, my goodness, Jo -- Sometimes it just never seems to let up, does it? What a lousy thing to have happen so soon after your surgery. I hope you are better soon and will send healing thoughts and prayers your way. Rest as much as you can. Guest guest
Geeze Jo! That's horrible! I can't beleive you tried to put it back in yourself. I don't think I could ever do that. Good luck. Hopefully when you get the plaster cast on, you'll be feeling better. Hugs,
Guest guest
Thank you yet again for your best wishes and thoughts, I honestly think I would lose what few marbles I still have left without you all. My worst is still very painful, which is worrying me as it normally starts easing after it's reduced and splinted. I am having a lot of pain and difficulty in moving the worst and thumb joint now, which is raising concerns over a possible Scaphoid fracture. I am going to head back up to the hospital tomorrow to get it re- assessed and x-rayed again, but I really hope that the Scaphoid isn't where the fracture is based as it's such a complex thing to treat. At best that would mean three months in plaster, at worst it would mean surgery to pin or bone graft it. :-( Oh well, back to waiting and praying again I guess. I will let you know things go as soon as I can. take care and know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as ever. Love and hugs...Jo xxx P.S. , I don't think I will ever get used to reducing my own dislocations, I'm just resigned to it now though really. I never thought I'd see that day I would be relocating my joints, but now I usually end up popping at lest two or three joints back in every day. Most of the time I can avoid trips to the ER unless I get complications or a really big dislocation. When they are really bad I leave them to be reduced under sedation at the hospital if I can, but there have been times where I've had to reduce them at home purely out of safety. I guess when you know that your affected joint/limb is being blood supply and nerve impaired and you can't get to the ER quickly, you just do what you have to do. It does scare me to have to do it, but my wonderful OS trusts me with my reductions having taught me several techniques and the fact that my Mum is a retired ortho trained nurse helps too....although it does still hurt like fury and usually induces lots of squealing and rather unsavoury language I assure you! Guest guest
Just wanted to tell you about the trip to the ER we had last night. My son had a Grand Mal Seizure that had him unconscious for 1/2 an hour. He would not wake up and was unresponsive. He has had only 4 previous Grand Mals-he usually has complex partial, focal seizures. We had already spoken to his Neuro and he increased his meds on Monday. I called 911 and the paramendics gave me their phone in the ambulance to call the service and let the Neuro know that we were on our way. I was so lucky that he was already in the hospital doing rounds. He came down to the ER and was waiting for us when we got there. He gave him a neuro exam and started coming out of the post dical state after the seizure that lasted longer than any other seizure. He has had episodes where he seizes 40+ times a day but they don't cause him to " go out like that " . Dr Cohen admitted him into CCF and started him on Lamictal and Topamax and that seemed to control the seizures with the exception of break thur seziures when he is ill. Dr. Cohen had hime come to CCF from Florida because the local neuros were at a loss. He is doing much better today, but I am wiped out for sure. I didn't sleep well because I had the Mother's Ear all night long which kept me listening to him breath and watching him on the video monitor. I hope everyone is doing well,
