I just want to make a couple of friendly reminders as we enter this

new year. As the list owner, I don't want to be a tyrant or censor

what is posted here, but there have been a few cases lately that have

been brought to my attention. Most notably are long off-topic

conversations and overly religious posts.

I don't mind off topic posts at all. I want this to be a close knit

group where we can all feel free to share what's happening in our

lives. However, when we get sidetracked by one completely off topic

thread for more than a few posts, posts that need immediate attention

could get lost in the mix - especially if someone puts their question

in a reply without changing the subject line.

As for the overly religious posts, we need to keep in mind that while

a majority may practice Christianity, there are many members who do

not. It's one thing to say things are " in God's hands " or something

similar, but something entirely different to post something that might

be heard during a sermon. I want people to feel comfortable coming to

this list for support regardless of their spiritual or religious

background.

Again, I am not trying to step on anyone's toes or make anyone feel

bad. When people feel uncomfortable enough to email me privately

about these things, I do need to take them seriously. This is a

large, high traffic group that attracts people from many walks of

life. I am vrey proud to be part of something that has helped so many

people.

Thanks.
