Please don't tell me it's raining!! I am happily living in little cocoon convinced that since it is summer in the UK the weather must be considerably better than here in Melbourne. I suspect you temps are higher but our weather is drier and our skies bluer, none of which fired me up about coming back in 38 sleeps :-( -- Sue, dreading walking to school in the rain from Sept-Dec

Guest guest
I think all umbrellas cause rain according to the research, but those with eyes/ears are exempt (at the discretion of the CULA (Chief Umbrella Licensing Authority -aka ) from the blanket (or should that be umbrella) ban that has been in place since last autumn. You do however need a license for an auditory enhanced umbrella and I imagine that your friends son was not in possession of a valid license for his frog, hence the rain. Guest guest
whoops how did those licenses slip through when they should have been licences (being nouns...) Bonfire night & fireworks...Christmas lights... I'm counting on an Indian summer :-)) Walking down the street this evening we could smell wood burning - people's fires and the wood-fired pizza ovens from the restaurants I suspect. I was telling Steffi how exciting autumn and winter are in the UK - starts with going back to school in early Sept, then we have Goose Fair in Nottingham in early Oct. Then the days when you walk to school and find spider webs with dewdrops on and conkers, then it's her grandaparents birthdays, then Halloween and Bonfire Night, then my birthday, then the build up to Christmas, a school play, my brother's birthday, her birthday her aunt's birthday and then her dad's birthday on Christmas Day. I do love that time of year and I'm feeling quite romantic about it all as we go through a very mild winter here. But I don't like continuous rain - remember we left shortly after all those floods last year when traffic in our town ground to a halt and the local park was under six inches of water! -- Sue

I love it too, and I love that fresh new back to school feeling! ( may be that's to do with spending 26 years of my life in the education system one way or another) in many ways Autumn is much more New Year for me than January is. Guest guest
IMHO September is an A1 brilliant time to have babies - season of mists (later in the season usually) and MELLOW FRUITFULNESS - I thought it was really cool to have a bit bump then, we were in harmony with the apple, quince, pear, trees, the vine bursting with bunches of grapes, the flowers in seed, fields full of wheat - and DS was born the day before Harvest Festival and was mentioned as a first fruit in church!! (I was absent tho ;-) Altho he was my second babe, so technically doesn't count as a first fruit! The weather is always golden - you get those wonderful blue skies and a slightly lazy winding down feel about the air and you can take the babe out in the garden for photos with flowers .... breastfeed under bushes in Kew Gardens (well, not for Jenni anyway!) etc You have a chance to get the baby established before the weather closes in.... I can guarantee that for the past 12 years we have only had rain once on 29th September! I explained that I had breast-fed in the beer garden of ... and the beer garden of ... and ... well it was a wonderful summer Maybe I should add Kew Gardens to my list > You have a chance to get the baby established before the weather > closes in.... The rest of my e-mail problems were solved, but I still wasn't getting anything from , but nothing was hitting the web-site either, so it is nice to know that there is a problem and that everyone is still out there. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 02:44:49 -0500 > To: > > Cc: lfitzger@...> > Subject: Re: weather > > > Hi Laurie, > > No ice storms in Pennsylvania.
