Guest guest
, My son had the same problem! But, only with new foods that had any kind of texture to them. Applesauce, for example was fine, but non-pureed type foods such as whole peas would cause him to cough and gag and throw up...alot!!! Sometimes, afterward, we could get him to eat a little more with no trouble, but most of the time that wasn't the case. We had to take it really slow. From applesauce we graduated to cottage cheese (now a huge no no!), and then to soft pasta. We introduced new foods and textures really slowly and took it one step at a time. Today, my son is nine years old and eats everything with no trouble. The only time he pulls his coughing and gaging and throwing up bit is when he has to take any kind of oral medicine. Fortunately that isn't too often! My son also had a serious reflux problem from birth, although switching him to soy milk instead of regular formula seemed to help a little. Good luck, Kim
