I'm also relatively new to the diet (6 weeks), but I can tell you

that my son was chronically constipated until we took him off dairy

about a year ago. We saw no behavioral changes, but it gave him

almost constant diarrhea. I took him to see a GI doc, who suggested

that we might need to use trial and error to figure out the optimum

amount of dairy to balance out his system; maybe a small piece of

cheese a day or whatever. It didn't hit me until later that we were

really just covering up the problem. Now my son is GFCF, still has

very loose stools (and of course, I never give him cheese!), and

we're off to see another GI doc tomorrow who is an autism specialist.

As a practical matter, it is easier to be CF than GF- just watch for

hidden whey or caseinate in foods (they are always on the label).

However, the casein and gluten proteins are so similar that we didn't

see any behavioral changes until we stopped the gluten, too. Now

Brett is much more focused and is attempting to talk a lot more.

Best of luck!

Sue
