Guest guest
Ann-Marie I have had it happen a couple of times and just thought it was due to dysautonomia. I have several symptoms of this and through it in with those. laurie > > > Hi Everyone!! > > I hope everyone is staying as cool as a cucumber this evening. Guest guest
Ann-Marie, Interesting that someone told you that enlarged veins are linked to dehydration. Nephrology told me the opposite. That my collapsed veins are due in part to chronic dehydration. It's confusing to me when answers seem to conflict like this, so I really don't know which is right. But I have to say the connection between dehydration and collapsed veins makes more sense to me logically. I do get dilated blood vessels relating to my migraines. Dilated vessels can be caused by lots of different things, I've been told. BTW, the past six months I've discovered that OTC Drixoral helps my migraines tremendously. I have known that allergies were one of the triggers for my migraines, but antihistamine alone did not have the same effect. Histamine tends to make the blood vessels " leaky, " among other things, and also has an adverse effect on muscles, making them more prone to twitching and overreacting. A rheumatologist told me this years ago. Barbara _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Ann-Marie Mc Sent: Saturday, June 11, 2005 11:28 PM To: Mitoldies Subject: Enlarged Veins Hi Everyone!! Guest guest
The veins on my hands vary between being collapsed and swollen. Whether I am laying down or standing up affects it a lot. My dad and his family have severe varicose veins, where the valves don't work right, so I've never thought the vein issues were from mito. Take care, RH > Ann-Marie, Interesting that someone told you that enlarged veins are linked > to dehydration. Nephrology told me the opposite. Guest guest
Hi Barbara, Actually your version sounds more on target than the one I got.!!! But there must be a reason why they become enlarged/swollen at different times. I guess it may make sense that it could be caused by autonomic changes in our bodies. I never took notice of my veins when I have a migraine but in the future I will try to take notice to see. It is great that you were able to find something OTC that helps with your migraines. I hate migraines and I get them alot. At least once or twice a week, sometimes more and they last for days. Guest guest
Hi Rh, I don't know if vein issues are a part of Mito. I am not sure what if any connection they have, but I have noticed that this happens to my veins quite a lot and was wondering if anyone else experiences this. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Good suggestion!!! Maybe that is what my problem is, since like you I have some symptoms associated with dysautonomic issues. Thanks Ann-Marie At 06:42 AM 6/12/2005, you wrote: >To: > >Subject: Re: Enlarged Veins > >Ann-Marie > >I have had it happen a couple of times and just thought it was due to >dysautonomia. Guest guest
--- I often get enlarge veins in my arms hand and feet but not in my chest. Mine is cause by blood pooling in my extremities from autonomic dysfunction. This is a common problem with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome. Hope this helps.
