Guest guest
We are new to supplements for our eight-year-old son. We began the GFCF diet about two months ago. Based on test results, we then added nystatin, probiotics, zinc, digestive enzymes and transfer factor three weeks after starting diet. We have been using these supplements for about one month and have seen small but definite improvements in the areas of compliance, social interaction, verbalization, and decreased aggression. After more test results had been received, our DAN physician recommended further supplementation with vitamins (particularly B vitamins), omega-3 fatty acids, calcium/magnesium and glutathione. We began supplementation Saturday with 1 capsule Nuthera (hypoallergenic) (divided dose), glutathione 100 mg and calcium/magnesium 500 mg. Today is Tuesday and we have seen an increase in hyperactivity, return of a rash on his face, and several episodes of screaming that appear to be due to abdominal pain. My guess is it is too much too soon. We are planning to remove all of the additional supplements and go more slowly. My overall feeling is that the hyperactivity is due to the Nuthera. If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a vitamin supplement that is low in Vitamin A (his is already high) but high in the B-vitamins that did not cause hyperactivity. In addition, does anyone have experience with these types of reactions that were associated with these supplements? Thanks so much, Jeanne
