My pcp although she is very good wrote 1 tablespoon on the prescription to start it (that is what the over the counter brand said for 1000 mg). I started getting diahrea. The pharmacist then figured out that 2 teaspoons = 1000 mg. Also, there are not the same fillers that are in the pills. Maybe talk to a pharmacist to see what he/she thinks you should start with. The pharmacist at my local Walgreeens is very good and actually has another patient that they order carnitor for. You will need to get a prescription from your doctor for the liquid to start though.
