Hi,

My name is Angie. I am 32 and I have a 4year old with complex III

deficiency. I have been having some weird little problems over the

last several months and am wondering if they could be mito related.

I'll start by listing my current symptoms. Fatigue, muscle pain and

cramping (burning) with even mild activity, intermittent numbness in

my left thigh and right foot that comes with activity. I also have

an increasingly poor memory, I feel HOT most of the time, and have

been having nerve pain in other areas. I have not lost much

strength though. I have also gained about 25 pounds in the last

year and a half.

Now for the medical history. I have had 5 miscarriages, autoimmune

thyroid disease, overactive bladder issues, bipolar (VERY well

controlled!!), Supraventricular tachycardia, asthma, and unexplained

sudden uterine prolapse at age 26 (it happened within 2 weeks time).

Maybe none of this means anything. I was hoping to get some honest

opinions from others who have mito or are knowlegeable about it.

Thank you in advance for any opinions you can offer.

Angie,

I can relate to the feeling hot all the time and the fatique and the

intermittent numbness. I have MELAS but very mild symptoms. My sister had the

seizures.

Anyhow, after my sister was diagnosed and I met with her doctor before I was

officially diagnosed he asked me about different problems I had in my medical

history. Seemingly unrelated but they are all related. He was especially

concerned about memory. Another funny question he asked was if I climb steps

one at a time or a couple at a time.

The mito can affect any part of the body depending on where the bad mito are and

can all seemingly be unrelated until someone puts two and two together.
