OK I am puzzled again, I thought that canola oil was ok for using. I

have even seen it mentioned before on this list as an ok item, but are

we just saying so or does anyone know for sure cause I just came across

this paper from the " Celiac Sprue Association/ United States of

America,Inc., P.O. Box 31700, Omaha, Nebraska 68131 " and on its " Basics

for a Gluten-Free Diet " it says : Avoid these oils- Canola, cooking

sprays with grain alcohol, vegetable oils trhat do not name source or

compound,......... "

Anyone know anything about this?

Canola oil is GFCF to the best of my knowledge. I know we have had

discussions before on whether to use or not- based on the ability to break

down canola oil. If I'm remembering correctly I think it is harder to

break down than other oils, BUT it is a " heathier " oil than most.

I heard it was because Canola oil (rapeseed oil) comes from rapeseeds, which

are often grown along side wheat fields, or in fields where wheat was grown

before and so the danger of contamination is high.
