Guest guest
Hey all: We got back from our allergy appointment at 1:30 this afternoon and it has taken me this long to even be able to sit down and write what I am feeling. I know other people have had bad doctor experiences, but other than our original pediatrician (who told me that even if Ebony did have autism, it wasn't worth testing for because there's not much you can do about it), I have had pretty positive experiences. I went into this appointment thinking that when I explained what I wanted to do with the IgG testing and that I was more interested in intolerances and sensitivities to food, rather than actual physical allergies, that the doctor would be willing to help me. WRONG!! Every single thing that I said to support the testing was ignored and I was repeatedly told that allergies were only tested accurately with skin prick tests and they could do six food items. (soy, peanuts, eggs, fish, milk, and wheat) Of course, they came back negative, as I told him they would. I am in shock that every thing I said was ignored. I have always worked in customer service and the whole " customer is right " thing is really ingrained in me. Are we, as the patients, not a customer. What I wanted him to do would not have harmed anything, even if he thought that it was not very usefull. Anyway, time to start over. Now I have to figure out another way to get the tests done that I want to get done...and still have my insurance cover it. What a pain. I tell you, I left that doctor's office so mad that I wanted to bite someone. I have never been violent, but I really feel like hitting something or someone would have felt so relieving. I am over that now, though, and ready to start figuring out what to do next. Thanks for letting me get all that out!
