Guest guest
Hello Again, The milk is not lactose free. We do have it in the house because one of our cats likes to drink milk and cannot handle regular milk or she gets diahrea even if we give her a small amount. So for a treat they get the lactose free kind. Our vet said that it is ok to give them that but not regular milk. The milk really does not make my blood sugar go up even if I drink a 16 oz glass. Sometimes I fill up on that or water. I am trying to loose at least 20 lbs because since last January I went from 130 to 155 lbs. I am 5 ft 2 inches and that is as much as I weighed when I was pregnant 12 years ago. I know that most of it came from taking the depo preva shot since another lady where I am temping had the same weight gain and in September when I met with a nurse practiioner to discuss options she told me that also. So I went off it in November. I had had the depo back in 1993 before I went on 10 years of the Norplant but did not gain weight back then. The doctor who took out my norplant (not my regular gp) never told me about the weight gain with the depo. This other lady said she read the literature also and it does not say anything about it. Anyway, that and starting a new temp job in late March and starting a different kind of insulin in August probably contributed to the weight gain. I was munching pretzels quite a lot at work for awhile while doing data entry. What I need to do is get back on a consistent meal time and plan my meals more. I am hoping that our moving and remodeling is done soon and I can relax more--I thought that was going to happen last year. Now everything is just as hecktic, just the nature of the work has changed. Well, I have a lot of paperwork to tackle tonight that I have been avoiding. Janet Sample Re: Diabetes Actually, you sound a bit light on calories, sometimes I end up going into " starvation mode " , and not losing weight because my metabolism slows greatly because I'm not getting enough calories. Have you noticed if the milk give you an increase in blood sugar? Unless you are using Lactose free milk, the lactose level can bother some people. My kids are currently on lactose free milk, have been back and forth on and off it, but now I think they need it. I used to be an EXCESSIVE milk drinker, but the Atkins diet made that go away. Amazing what not buying something will do for your consumption (we only have lactose free milk in the house now). Take care, RH > >
Guest guest
I was on Depo Provera a while ago, and gained weight on it. I'll be trying Yasmin, which is supposed to not cause weight gain, and actually causes some people to lose weight and clears up the complexion. Depo is progesterone-like only, and Yasmin has both estrogen and progesterone like. I had some problems with the estrogen only ones. One funny thing I just heard is that taking Vitamin C can increase estrogen levels in the blood from bcp, and Vitamin C is sometimes recommended for mito. It's tough managing all these meds, let alone the fact that the doc who prescribes the bcp's isn't familiar with any of my other meds... I gained about 50 lbs. between birth control pills and similar hormones, the Atkins diet helped me get rid of some of that. It's so funny I was 113 lbs. at 5'6 " in H.S., and I'd be happy to be back at 140 lbs. My pediatrician was telling me to gain weight when I was 113 lbs., I think I did too good a job Take care, RH > > > > > > >
