Well it happened. Our regular caregiver at day care was not there today AND my

husband

picked Zoe up after work, so the person covering did not put Zoe's FAB in her

bag when she took it off like normally does and my husband didn't check

the bag like I normally do. On top of that they said that she slipped out her

shoe and they could not get it on properly, so left it off. Not sure what time

that was, but it was before noon, which is the normal " take off time " . That is

only the second time in 5 months it has come off at school. Zoe is barless

tonight. I have a sick feeling in my stomach. On top of that I will be

dropping her off late tomorrow because my big one has a dentist appt. I guess I

will put it on her when I get there leave it on until evening and give her a

couple of hours out. She is normally 8pm until noon for 16 hours/day, or should

I go by when they open at 6:30 and put it on her then???

Oh the stress! I am sure she will be OK for one night but my concern would be

they've lost it in the mean time! Ah! I would still go with your original

schedule of starting at night so she has the day time free to move and delvelop

but you might think of putting it on more like at 6 in the evening if possible

so it comes off earlier. We're on a 14 hour schedule right now - 7 pm till 9

a/m.

Try not to worry. You have been so diligent and so conscientious! One

night out of the bar will not a relapse make. But, having said that,

I remember the (few)nights once in a great while when my Zoe was

waking every hour for no reason I could fathom and somewhere around 3

am I gave in and took the shoes off for the rest of the night. Oh the

guilt! And I didn't even think to try and make up the time during the

day! Smart thinking.

I have two thoughts: first, either go by at 6:30, pick it up, put it

on and have them remove it at 12 noon so she can get back in her

routine. (sounds like a big inconvenience, though.) Or, go with your

plan of putting it on when you get there and having them leave it on

for the rest of the day. Take it off when you get her home, then put

it on at 8 pm. (probably the best idea as far as coordination goes).

Is she the kind of child who is easily upset if her routine is messed

up or does she go with the flow? If she craves routine, then you may

want to just wait until 8 pm or a little earlier tomorrow night and

start over with the routine...

Hope this helps! Joanne W.

Little Zoe is very flexible, so I think I will put it on when we get

there and leave it on until about 3-4, then give her a break. Thanks

guys!

Well, I'm late in replying - hope you figured everything out. I

just wanted to notice a positive in all of this, your day care

provider was honest and told you that the shoe came off, and that

they were unable to put it back on. I told my day care over and

over again, if they forgot, it fell off, anything - just tell me,

yes, we'll be frustrated, but wouldn't be angry. Zach's past that

stage now (of having to wear it at day care) but I do remember one

time I forgot to drop the bar off with him at day care (he was

wearing it at naps only) and the day care called me at work asking

for it. Gosh, did that ever make me feel great.

Anyhoo - I'm sure one night was fine, although I can completely

understand your concern - I'd be exactly the same way.
