Guest guest
Listmates, Owens is going to be in New Jersey on the weekend of April 20-22, visiting Princeton University. At the urging of a few listmates who found out she was coming, she has offered to do a seminar in this area that Saturday afternoon...of course, that is only if there is sufficient interest to make it worth arranging. I've always felt that does tremendously important work in sulfation and autism, and is so generous and available to us on the lists. I know she's having some trouble getting research funding, so if you have any way of getting to see her, please, please reply now and help create this valuable opportunity! She will present a lot of the same material as she presented at the Autism 2000 Congress in Glasgow, Scotland last spring, but, for this purpose, she was thinking of doing two presentations: a first one geared to parents which would be a general overview of the biology of autism. It would also integrate how sulfation issues relate to other findings in autism. The second one would be aimed at those who are interested in things like chemical pathways and cutting edge research in how sulfate functions biologically. It would address where new research needs to be done to clarify sulfate's role in the development and in the treatment of autism. In the middle, we'd like to put a question and answer time, but it really would work more as a sharing time, so that parents can hear from each other, too. I hope this sounds interesting! We have no idea how many people live close enough to come, so we need to get a feel for how many might want to come to this sort of seminar in the Princeton area. If you think you might be able to come, please reply privately to: biologyofautism@... , and we'll put you on a contact list so we can give you more details as plans materialize. We don't have much time. Also, if anyone would like to help us with the organizational details, we could certainly use your help. Many thanks, Terri in Santa Cruz Definitely part of the " Owens Fan Club " ! PS. You may crosspost this announcement to other autism and related lists where it has not already appeared.
