Guest guest
Announcing: FENet/ The Farmworker Eye Network: Beginning November 2000, a unique network, FENet, will link health providers, health educators, outreach workers and researchers to the resources necessary to respond to vision problems and eye-related occupational dangers faced by farmworkers. FENet has been created to offer those that serve farmworkers the opportunity to network and communicate key information on eye care and eye injury prevention. FENet was founded by the Rural Women’s Health Project and is co-sponsored by Midwest Farmworkers Eye Injury Prevention Partnership. FENet will offer workshop/presentations, a listserve and a web site that catalogs listings of educational materials, publications, research and articles addressing the issues of eye care for agricultural workers. The site will also announce upcoming presentations on farmworker eye care issues. Our site is located at: http://www.FENet.org The mission of FENet is: 1. To increase the promotion of eye care, to Farmworkers and their families, as part of basic outreach and health care. 2. To increase the use and availability of safety equipment by promoting further research and field projects which identify the obstacles Farmworkers encounter in using safety lenses. 3. To encourage further development and distribution of creative and appropriate eye care educational materials for Farmworkers and their families. 4. To catalog educational materials, publications, research and articles that address eye care for farmworkers (including eye injury prevention, eye conditions, safety equipment and first aid for the eyes). 5. To advocate for the needs of Farmworkers, by developing preliminary surveys on eye care issues. We welcome any ideas or submissions for FENet. Join our listserve by sending an e-mail to farmworker_eye_net-subscribeegroups For more information about FENet, email us at info@... or call 352-372-1095. -- Rural Women's Health Project | P.O.
