Guest guest
Hi, I wrote about using a food coop. Another mom and I are now looking into to starting our own to save some coordination and driving time. We haven't gotten very far, but we called health food wholesalers from the yellow pages to find one who'd handle " small orders " - in our case $500 was the lowest minimum. We're just going to order foods that all three of us can agree upon - organic veggies, Shelton's poultry products, soy yoghurt, gfcf noodles, etc. - since we want to buy in bulk, measure out portions, and save more. We're sorting out whose address, fax, phone, tax license, etc., will be used. Whose got a scale, whose got a scoop, etc. How to fairly share the work. It doesn't seem hard, just a bit confusing on top over everything else we've got going. Costs, especially shipping, drop with volume, so we're not sure that a 3 family coop will make sense. Hope this helps you get started. If I come across any useful info, will let you know. For those looking for existing coops, try community newsletters, alternative health clinics, and bulletin boards at libraries, HFS, yoga centers, neighborhood centers, etc. > I live in Encino (sorry I forgot to sign my name- it's ).
