Guest guest
Hi, Wow, you have a lot happening! I want to address just a couple of points. My child regresses with allergies and illness, even when mild. In fact, regression alerts me that he may be comming down with something. He just started claritin redi-tabs again (they dissolve quickly in mouth) because of mold problems. If your doctor will give you a prescription, creon digestive enzymes seem to be more effective than enzymeAid. Neither really helps with g&c problems, but creon will reduce reactions to minor food intolerances. Children tend not to show food reactions to items they eat frequently. We need to remove the item completely for awhile and then reintroduce it to check for reactions. Peanuts, soy and corn are common problems. Rice to a lesser degree. Personally, we must avoid food colors and BHT. Fruit-loops are now a major problem " food " for my child. Regarding allergies and regression triggers, I just posted a link to a report on multiple chemical sensitivity that describes some of the triggers and things to avoid. It is well worth reading. To relieve/eliminate allergies, some listmates use NAET. We use sublingual desensitizing drops from our allergist. There is also a chiropratic treatment, sorry - can't recall the name of it. Maybe someone will help out here.
Guest guest
Suzanne, Have you ever considered homeschooling? I have AS twins whom I teach at home. They get ample socializing with 4-H, swimming lessons, organized playgroup, field trips with friends, informal play dates, etc. In the meantime, I'm able to control their learning environment, nutrition, and the pace of their academics. I'm also able to do their OT & PT at home one-on-one. They are doing wonderfully. And they are very confident. I subscribe to a homeschooling-for-special-needs print newsletter & a Homeschooling Aspies e-group. These are helpful. There are many helps to get you started, and many books to help determine whether it would work for your family. I just thought your son's situation sounded like one that would really be benefited by homeschooling. You'd certainly have no more repeating grades!
