Guest guest
My 3-year-old son started receiving ABA through Nassau County in September of 2000 and now we want 5 extra hours a week devoted exclusively to speech. The agency that provides my son's ABA therapists says that they have a person who can do it and a Speech Language Pathologist who is ready to write the program and act as consultant. We approached our School District about it, but, they are resisting giving us the extra hours. I just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with this situation and to ask people how many hours a week they are getting (this is for my information only, I would NEVER use anyone else's name in bargaining with our school district, etc.) and how many of the total hours are devoted exclusively to speech. The School District is saying that my son is making adequate progress and that we are only entitled to 25 hours a week anyway (which does not sound right because we are getting more than 25 hours a week already)-he is totally nonverbal-he makes sounds, but no real words, but, I guess they consider that adequate progress. Anything anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated-please, email me privately at vic2171@.... Thank You, ---------------------------------
