Guest guest
Hi everyone- I am pretty much new to this. We started the diet (gf/cf) on January 10th. THis was our second attempt (did it last year for only a month and stopped) because I saw no improvements in s's seizures. ALthough, he was very calm on the diet and not hs HYPER non-stop self!! Anyway, my son has been diagnosed with ideopathic seizures that began at 3 months old following his second Hep B shot, that he received while he was sick (from the first Hep B shot)!! He is not diagnosed as Autistic, but does present many traits that fit into the spectrum. I guess my main goal here is to stop the seizures and help him to focus. He is very active and with it when he's having a good day, but when those seizures hit (usually in clusters) he really fades! He spent two years on the ketogenic diet with some success. He was having over 200 seizures a day up until about a year ago. He is now 6 years old and functions like a 2 1/2 year old. His speech being his greatest dealy (I think it's an Auditory Processing issue). He is on only 1 seizure drug right now (Felbatol) and I started him on COd Liver Oil. Flax Seed Oil, about 2 weks ago. I have had him on probiotics for almost 3 years now (one neurologist had him tested for yeast in his urine and it came up ABNORMALLY high),and just switched to Kirkmans Pro Bio Gold. Starting Kirkmans every day hypoallergenic vitamin 2 weeks ago and he could'n't fall asleep ( I did give the dose early am and only 1/2 recommended) so I stopped the vitamin. I just received Kirkmans Colostrum Gold and started that yesterday. He had a seizure yesterday afternoon. I gave him another 1/2 tsp this morning and he had another seizure about an hour later. His poop has a very foul odor and I was wondering if this could be a side effect from the colostrum? I know that we can always expect regression before we see progess (but does this always have to be the case)? Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Pam/ 's Mom

If so, it's a good thing (the die-off, not the seizures). You might want to call Kirkman Labs about the situation and see what they recommend as an initial dosing level, then work up from there. Guest guest
> Wouldn't colostrum have casein in it?? If not, why not? > > I've been wondering this... > Thanks! > > . Because colostrum isn't milk - it precedes it. Of course, in reality it would be easy to get casein mixed in with the colostrum, so we need to confirm with manufacturers with their product is casein-free before using it. The Kirkman's website has an explanation of how they ensure that their product is cf.
