Guest guest
Hi , It has been a long time since I've posted...My son (aspergers...gfcf,yeast free mostly, limited sugar...8 yrs. old) had been doing incredible on the diet. We started a year ago, went through withdrawel and typical learning process and really progressed...he is now off all medications that our OLD doctors had prescribed...prozac, tenex, depakote, immipramine and risperdal. He took these twice a day and they didn't even make a difference. Well anyway we got him off the risperdal maybe 6 to 8 weeks ago and he has not been doing very well...however the first night off of the risperdal was his first full night sleeping practically for as long as I can remember which is definitely a benefit..he continues to sleep through the night and now has no problem going to sleep naturally without all the drugs. Well things are going from bad to worse at school..he is in regular 1st grade class with pull outs for ot, speech and resource....he is repeating 1st grade because prior to the diet he just was not learning. The teachers who have been great and very supportive of the diet have mentioned ritalin to help him focus and stay on track...I will welcome everyones opinion on this ! I don't know what to do. We have really been strict on the diet and I just don't see any slip ups..He has run a fever recently could that mess up our kids...he is never sick but now he has been, with a cough also. His Dan dr. has him taking allergy shots for yeast/mold..anyone else doing this? I was thinking maybe a try of diflucan...we've done nystatin (insurance no longer covers this)..I really don't want to go through all the yeast tests again...more opinions please! Also as a safety net we've been giving him enzymaid with his lunch at school every day...we used to use serenaid..is one better than the other or should I stop using all together? My heart is breaking for my little and I feel like I'm back at square one. He is on a ton of supplements and I'm thinking of stopping them all...reintroducing slowly to really find out what is helping or not...he takes snt, dmg, folic acid, coq10,reduced l glutathione,b-12,magnesium glycinate, trace minerals, electrolyte solution, flax oil and who knows what else...I'm at a loss. Sorry this was so long, I guess I should post more often (p.s. he never shows any reaction to eggs, corn or soy so I'm thinking it isn't these surfacing as underlying allergies). Thanks for any and all help! Suzanne
