Guest guest
The rule about rear facing is 20 pounds or one year old, whichever comes LAST. So, if your child is not one or not 20 pounds, keep them rear facing. Many of my friends kept their children rear facing until over 18 months old! Now the recommendation is the longer the better. There are also height restrictions on carseats which I didn't realize. I always thought it was based on weight/age. Zoe quickly outgrew her infant seat since she was 26 " well before she was 20 pounds. Also, she moved out of the 40 pound seat around 30 pounds because the top of her ears was taller than the top of the PLASTIC part of the carseat, not the cover. so she's been in a boster seat since just before 3 years old. The reason we got the Britax Husky is because it is a 5 point harness which will hold a tall child up to 100 pounds. Many states are changing their carseat laws to be 8 years/80 pounds which is the new standard regardless of whether your state makes it a law or not. Hope this helps! Joanne W.
