peptide urine test

My nephew is about 8 months old. I have two kids on the spectrum,

and my sister-in-law (the baby's mom) has a sister with a child on

the spectrum.

We recently started the diet, and I've been talking some with her

about the concept of them possibly taking gluten and casein out of

the little guy's diet until he is older. He already is consuming it

now, and they have an NT child who is 4 who consumes gluten and

casein so it would be a big deal. My brother and s-i-l are very

knowledgeable about autism and trying to be careful, but at the same

time, not completely paranoid, about their baby.

Here's my question. Is there any reason that they couldn't spend the

$99 now and do the urine peptide test on the little guy to determine

if he properly breaks down those proteins? Being GFCF is a big

commitment, even for those of use with affected children, and it

occured to me as we sent in our urine test last week that possibly

they could do the same and find out if it is even a problem.

Anyone have any knowledge about this? Would it tell them anything at

that age? BTW, they are splitting out and spacing out all of this

child's vaccines!

Thanks for your comments. Sara
