Guest guest
The recommendations for cardio is to be screened with an echo and EKG every year. The mito things that are most common with the heart are cardiomyopathy and " electrical malfunctions " , although we can have most anything - like everyone else or mito related. Now for the breathing. Shortness of breath is probably my most limiting symptom which turns out to be good, as it forces me to sit and rest and reduces the damage to muscles. I just sit and let it pass. It is no longer scary (most of the time) and passes in about 10-15 minutes. I can continue pushing myself even when I have the air hunger, but I try not to and don't do it willingly. In my case many of my pulmonary values are down, but my pulmonologist explained that there may be some weakness in my diaphram, but that the shortness of breath is related to all my muscles. He said that I produce lactic acid when using my muscles and that lactic acid drives the breathing to increase. The body is demanding more oxygen to convert the fuel to energy, but that doesn't fix the problem because of the mito. I hope this makes sense. laurie > > > > Thanks for your welcome.
