Question on how to start the diet

Janice, it works better for you and the child if you take him off slowly.

Gives his body time to adjust and you time to learn the diet. I started

pulling casein out of Evan's diet and took a couple of weeks to do that and

then I started on gluten. Some pull out wheat one week and then rye, oats,

and barely a week each after. I just started eliminating gluten period and

did it slowly over a month. He did some extra stimming at school but he did

not have major withdrawals that I know some have had. It also gave me time

to work on menus and what to look out for at the store. I also used this

time to weed out things that i had already bought. I experimented on

cookies and cakes for him while we were doing this. Giving him gfcf treats

while we were working it out. Don't forget to check out www.gfcfdiet.com

for the lists of what is ok and what is not.

Should I take him off of gluten " cold turkey " , or do it gradually over a

period of a week or two? Do you have any other recommendations or

suggestions for me?

Thanks!

Janice
