Guest guest
hello! There was a posting here about 2 wks ago concerning Dr Goldberg. My 5 yr old son is a patient of Dr Goldberg. Dr Goldberg hails from Calif but routinely visits patients throughout the US, esp here in the Md/Wash DC/East Coast area. Dr Goldberg heads up the NIDS coalition. (for more info on NIDS, go to our website and click on NIDS http://steve_doris.tripod.com ) Dr Goldberg believes many of the cases diagnosed as autistic are actually suffering from a disease - a treatable disease involving the nervous and immune systems, a dysfunctional immune system if you wish. You can't argue medical proof - this is what Dr Goldberg uses. This is why his protocol involves so many blood tests. Our son's CAN Dr admitted he didn't understand everything that was happening in our son, even tho the medical tests were showing a hyperactive immune system possibly due to a viral infection. - He supports a GFCF diet esp when a child is showing sensitivity to particular items. Removing these irritating items should calm the immune system. But what is causing the immune system to be sensitive in the first place ? is currently on a GFCF eggless/cowless diet because of his allergy panel testing. His tests results 'looked like the manhatten skyline'. Why was my visually healthy son showing sensitivities to almost everything under the sun ? - He supports immunizations WHEN GIVEN RESPONSIBLY. Family history needs to be evaluated as well as the child's state of health. If a family history shows an autoimmune problem or an immune dysfunction then the child needs to be medically followed up after an immunization. 's pediatrician failed to take into acct during numerous visits that 's dad had had GBS and that on one occasion, had a runny nose. Dr Goldberg is also not against Dr Wakefield. He just disagrees with the way Dr Wakefield presented his information. ........ - Dr Goldberg disagrees with chelation and vitamin therapy. He's posted his chelation talk on the NIDS website. We did the vitamin therapy. 2 Tble of white powder (combo of numerous vits) 2x day for 8 mths .... did we see a change ?? Yes, initially. Then everything went back to the way it had been. It is possible to overdose on vitamins. The Wash Post paper had an article in its HEALTH section last year on vitamins. They noted what would happen on each vitamin if you overdosed. Made me wonder what they were doing to .... - Dr Goldberg is not entirely anti-ABA. There is a time and place for ABA. The child must be treated as a child, and not an animal. Dr Goldberg attended UCLA in '72 when Dr Lovaas was there. He heard rumors about this " doctor doing weird experiments with these autistic kids " It took Dr Lovaas til 1986 to publish his first report on ABA/DTT. Has this stopped us from doing ABA with ? No - because we've seen the beneficial effects of 1:1 teaching with him. There are alot of rumors out there about NIDS and Dr Goldberg. If you are like us, and want to hear and see what NIDS is, go see Dr Goldberg talk. He's speaking at two symposiums in the near future: one is in Texas the other in Iowa. One of the talks includes presentations by Dr Wakefield and Dr Rimland. :-) boy would I like to be a fly on that wall ..... Dr Goldberg will also be back in the MD area in late March. More than likely, he'll be having an open forum for ANY interested persons on March 31 from 8-12 at the Bethesda Marriott in Bethesda, MD. I've invited numerous Drs to these talks. It would be nice to see members of the medical community there to discuss/disprove what Dr Goldberg is doing .... I have yet to see this happen .... My husband and I have found Dr Goldberg very sensitive to 's needs. He can quote 's medical history like the Pledge of Allegence. In just 6 short months, we've seen a change in our son, for the better. Has it always been smooth sailing? absolutely not!! I've heard of a few families waiting 2-3 years before a positive is seen. There are many layers to our kids, like an onion. Some take a little bit longer to peel. NIDS is one piece to our son's puzzle. Do your research - chose the pieces carefully. Use common sense - talk with other parents. and have lots and lots of patience .... :-) God bless! doris smith sville
