Laurie,

There have been times in the past that I have actually stopped breathing and

woke up feeling like someone was sitting on my chest. Then there were a few

times I woke up, thought everything was fine and went to take a breath and

couldn't...it felt like my chest was going to explode. The ER doctors at the

same time thought it was pleurosy, but Dr. S. said it was a strong possibly it

was due to MITO and my lungs being weak.

It may be that you were having hypopneas and not apneas. This is when you

breath so very slowly that it is like stopping, but isn't. This is what I

have and I do so much better with my CPAP.

Give yourself time to get use to it. Take it off when it bothers you and try

to build up your time. Good luck!
