Gastroenterologist RANT!!! (long)

I don't know what to do. After a couple of phone calls to find out

my son's test results that his new gastroenterologist ordered I

finally got a call back from another doctor in his office who told

me " everything came back negative " . I had kept a copy of the lab

requisition form so that I knew exactly what tests had been ordered.

Among other tests, we were supposed to have gotten an Endomysial AB

done to test for celiac. It took 2 blood draw attempts to get enough

blood for all the tests they were running. My ASD son was EXTREMELY

upset during all of this. The doctor I spoke to told me that he

didn't have results for the Endomysial AB and that it had been too

long for the lab to still be working on it! Somehow it had gotten

overlooked at the lab and wasn't done. What the heck???? I had been

purposely feeding my son gluten prior to the blood draw in hopes of

getting accurate readings. I don't want to have to put him back on

gluten again unless necessary. We did get the Gliadin AB back and it

was negative.

I feel like the whole gastro appt. was a waste of time and that he

was not very interested in helping my child. He said his eating

issues were all behavioral and referred us to the Psychology Dept.

Eating Program.

I think my son is benefitting somewhat by the diet though I'm not

positive, but I really wanted to know if there was a chance he was

celiac. That would have been really motivating to keep this diet

going.

Well.......thanks for listening..
