Guest guest
From time to time, there has been an interest in (im)migration processes between Mexico and the U.S. The Center for Immigation Studies (CIS) recently posted this article among their series of news links. http://www.thenewsmexico.com/noticia.asp?id=20389 The article is based on information from Mexico's Office for Mexicans Abroad. Since September 11, they report that migration from Mexico to the U.S. dropped 30%, and there was a 5% drop in nationals in the U.S. returning to Mexico over the Holidays. That office suggests that these decreases will have no effect on remittances from the U.S. to Mexico. We should keep in mind these are " official statistics " that do not reflect the common (unofficial) forms of entry/exit into/from the U.S. This particular article does not mention the recent interest taken by a federal panel to look into hidden overcharges on monies remitted from this country to places outside this country.
