This article sums up some research on statins and CoQ10:

http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/coq10.htm

It has specific literature references cited, in case someone is

looking for more info for their doctor.

I have several healthy friends who have had major side effects from

statins, and many were told " you have to stay on statins or else " .

These are people whose cholesterol is only in the 220's or so at

most - my godmother started taking 2 tsp. of ground flax seed per

day, and her cholesterol went down to 170, from 220. YMMV, I am not

a doctor, but the statins are scary.

There is some potential that pharmaceutical researchers may develop

statins that avoid reducing CoQ10, but most if not all statins (HMG-

CoA reductase inhibitors) on the market negatively affect CoQ10

amounts in the body.

Take care,
