Give yourselves some credit guys! >> I agree with you. To be able to give birth of any kind is awsome! I had three different laboers with my three kids. The oldest, 22, is my diagnosed autistic. He was the old, regular labor room, delivery room and recovery room system. We did the natural childbirth class. It was simplistic compared to what the classes are now. My only problem was that Jeff's head was huge and my pelvis opening was small. He really should have been a C-section. The birth probably did cause his brain damage, and that damage probably affected his natural tendency towards seizures. The damage is in that part of the brain. The second, 18, was in the natural childbirthing room. At that time, the birth had to be without difficulties. It was back labor. (OW) He is bi-polar, and should probably also have a diagnosis somewhere on the spectrum. The last, 13, was the C-section. His contractions started two weeks before the due date. The contractions continued to get stronger, but nothing else progressed. By the time of his due date my stomach was hard, he hadnt dropped and I hadn't softened. I may have been one of the few mothers that actually begged for the operation! He is at least a shadow. Back in those 'dark ages', there were not as many vaccinations as there are now. I just read that the number went from 8 to 22! The only poke that was scheduled to happen was the foot poke for PKU and other tests, probably jaundice. I remember the first shot being quite a few months later. (Oh, yeah, and the special procedure saved just for the little fellas). So, I did them all! I had the choice of pain medicine, I begged for it for the second one! The set-up of the room, though, made that harder to do, and it probably wouldn't have taken effect in time anyway. I went in at 8 at night and he came at 2 in the morning. I got the idea from the post though, that the issue wasn't that she had medicine, it was that she had no say in her health care. That would burn me. Especially with all the work that the parents did starting about 30 years ago to include the parents in the whole process. Thanks for listening.
