Guest guest
Hi: I am sorta new here. Diagnosed over 2.5 years ago with Stage 4, mets to liver and most recently seeds in the lungs and possibly in my uterus. I have a colostomy bag. I have had oxiliplatin and then avastin. I am currently on Xeloda but the count is going up, but hardly at all. Every 2 weeks the count is narrowing. The onc of course wants it to GO DOWN. I think it will, but he wants me to go on avastin again. I told him no to the leucovorin etc as I was deathly ill from it. He is agreeing to keep me on the Xeloda for a bit longer. (I also refused erbitux... but that's another discussion.) I am also on a rather unorthodox protocol that was developed by a veterinarian. He managed to help his pet patients with this simple protocol (small doses of Kenalog and armorthyroid). I've been on this for a month and I feel TERRIFIC! I will get my blood results back soon to see how I am doing. I truly believe that the reason my count is not climbing dramatically and I feel so energetic is because of this protocol. Let me know if you want to discuss this more. Last time I mentioned it on another cancer site I was accused of " spamming. " Nothing could be further from the truth. I was merely trying to offer a new approach and NOT a replacement to anything an onc can dream up! Anyway, want to hear from anyone who has tried the above treatments together. Thank you for your time.
Guest guest
> I am curious what your onc says about your vet protocol or does he/she know? He knows. The vet would NOT proceed without the onc's okay. They spoke, but it took about a month to get everyone on the same page...dosages etc etc... it was difficult. But I think definitely worth the trouble. And the most amazing thing? The drugs cost me $3 -- total (I do have insurance, but this was jaw dropping.) Guest guest
Talking about vets..... As I have posted I am changing from my surgeon and in fact have a appt with oncologist at Wilmont Cancer Center on the 1st. My last Pet showed a spot on colon where the stapeles are. Last year they same spot showed but biopsy showed not cancer. After this Pet I asked him if I could get a ct and see what that showed. Years ago I had a reaction to the dye so now I take predisone and benadryl before have a cat scan. He informed me I had problems with cat scans after as many as he has sent me for. I told him no I did not have a problem just took the medication. He informed me it might not be a problem for me but it was a problem for him to call it in to pharmacy. That did it! Was very upset that day and I just told him never mind I would just take the dogs pills:) I then called my regular Dr who insisted I come see him as he could tell how upset I was. I had not told him about the dog pills but when I went in he already knew. I would have loved to have heard what the surgeon told him. My Dr agreed the dogs pills were the same thing and did not blame me when I told him I would not be seeing that surgeon again! My dog has severe allergies and is on predisone and benadryl daily. One night before a cat scan In the middle of the night I had been half awake to take the pred and some how it did not hit my mouth and I could not find it. Well I did not want to mess up getting the scan so took 10 of the dogs 5mg pred to equal the 50 mg I was suppose to take:) At 3 am there was no one to call but called vets office as soon as they opened and was told they were the same thing not to worry. Of course the surgeon had no idea when I said I would just take the dogs pills. I was furious he thought it was a problem for him to have his nurse make a phone call.
