Yes, I pulled the needle out myself. I had to first disconnect the pump,

and then flush with a syringe full of SALINE, then a 1/4 of a syringe of

HEPERIN. Then I had to hold onto the port with one hand, and then pull the

needle

STRAIGHT out. It was a long needle. I then put a little bandaid over the

pin prick.

Thanks for asking about me too. What is your husbands name again, and your

statistics? Also what part of Spain?? That is where my ancestory is from.

Holding on to the port when pulling the needle out is very, very

important!!! Good job, Jay!!!

How did you do on your flight?? If you told us, I must have missed it. I

get Yahooed all the time...missing very important messages!!

You poor guy! No fun and it's like being trapped when you are up in the wild

blue yonder but hey you tried. What kind of LOA or disability plans does the

airline have? Is there some kind of part-time arrangement you could do on

your off weeks?

I'm praying for blue skies and better days ahead.

God Bless

The flight itself was uneventful, but boy my body was not being user friendly.

I have talked to other crew members with cancer and have found that no one has

ever attempted to fly while on chemo. And so, I am going to start petitioning

some agency's to see if they can help me financially while I fight the effects

of chemo.

On another note... the smells in the oncology center ... it used to smell so

nice and clean, and now I swear I can smell 5FU, and I want to just barf.

Hi Jay,

You are going thru " it " aren't you? You taste buds and sense of smell are

affected while on chemo. I found that slices of lime helped the taste buds, but

smells are hard to overcome....That 5FU and Oxipilatin are rough. Almost

everything I drank tasted like gasoline would taste, so I thought.

I also wish you luck on the financial end.

Take care,

Carolyn
