Guest guest
Hi Everyone. I've not posted for a while but been monitoring the board and keeping you all in my prayers. I wanted to share a quick update and ask a few questions... My mothers cancer is being managed pretty well (STG4 Mets to the lymphs, no where else_inoperable tumor_ 2 rounds Folfox_ 1 round Avastin). We though she has mets to the liver but blessedly they turned out to be calcium deposits! We also switched to The Cancer Clinic - they Rock!!! I wish we had started off there but, as you all know, when first diagnosed the learning curve is a monster! You frantically do the research only to realize you've just scratched the surface or spent hours trying to learn something that is completely insignificant to your particular situation! It's like being handed a scalpel and forced to operate - it has to get done but you have no idea what the he!! you're doing! Anyway, the neurotoxicity got pretty bad from the chemo and we are now looking into radiation. We're meeting with the Radio Ocn to discuss the options tomorrow. Anyone who has gone from several rounds of chemo FF/Avastin, experienced neurotixicity and went on to radiation, I would love to hear from you. How did your body react? Side effects? Recovery time?.. Etc... When I read about the 'forgetfulness' it struck me because my mom has been very forgetful and her equilibrium (sp?) has been off too. Her poor body has been scanned, poked and prodded to nauseam and no other malignancies or other ailments have been found that would cause this - but I'm snooping around and will share anything that I learn. I'm still 'commuting' between Barcelona and Ohio - strange the routines a body can get used to! Thankfully, Delta has a direct flights! Also, I finally had my Colonoscopy and was all clear and no other family members have been diagnosed - some of you may remember that my grandmother and 2 cousins in addition to my mother were diagnosed with the disease. Anywho, big hugs to you all and, as ever, thanks for sharing your wisdom. This board is truly a blessing...
