Guest guest
Since I know some of you and your caregivers have heart problems thought this may be useful. Narice June 24, 2005 -- A new test may help doctors spot patients who are in immediate danger of suffering a major heart attack. The FDA recently approved the CardioMPO kit for use in combination with other factors to determine which people complaining of chest pain are in imminent danger of having a heart attack. " One of the most common yet challenging situations in an emergency room or physician office is triaging a patient complaining of chest pain or discomfort, " says Marc Penn, MD, PhD, in a news release. " In these cases, physicians must quickly identify who is at risk of suffering a heart attack or in need of more aggressive intervention, " says Penn who is the medical director of the coronary intensive care unit at The Cleveland Clinic, where the test was developed. " The CardioMPO test will provide physicians more accurate identification of patients at risk. " The blood test measures the level of a protein called myeloperoxidase (MPO) that is produced in infection-fighting white blood cells. In addition, the protein is found in clogged areas of heart arteries _the protein is found in clogged areas of heart arteries_ (http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/content/article/75/89874.htm) that are vulnerable to rupture -- thus causing a heart attack. Elevated levels of this protein in people with chest pain or discomfort signals a short-term risk of heart attack or need for surgery to restore normal blood flow to the heart, such as bypass surgery or angioplasty. High levels of this protein are also associated with an increased risk of heart-related death within months of the test. In a study of 604 people with chest pain, reported by WebMD, the test accurately predicted who was likely to suffer a heart attack. Researchers say the heart attack test will be available to doctors in
Guest guest
Thanks for that, am going to forward it to my daughter, both her and hubby have had some worries... I think are okay though. Laurie I think is going into menopause, doc put her on hormones.. Now at 40 something she is scared to death that she might get pregnant... Well if the God Lord wills it. LOL... She after all this time she really doesn't want to be pregnant but if it happens, so be it. Maybe she will quit that god awful over stressful job at Walmart. They have her responsible for everything.. That is is cause she has to do everyone;s job There is one gal, an alcoholic who comes in to work as she pleases, leaves early, takes all sorts of time off and no no one checks up on her... One guy who had only 1 day training for something screwed up, and now it will be on him or Laurie as she is the manager, though she is NOT HIS MANAGER.... His supervisor said well I thought he was ready... Why is Laurie responsible when she didn't even train him.. If she had he would know what he was spose to do. She is that thorough. She had to stop taking me to chemo because they said intermittent leave of absence will count against her hours of work... My gosh when she works she is there 12-14 hours a day, and she can never leave early like some folks do all the time and no no one says anything. That place makes me so mad - I would love to write to Walmart HQ and complain that she can't even take off to help me go to chemo because she has to do everyone's job. But then it would come back at her and she would end up getting fired. I think she is gathering her information and will take care of herself when the time comes... she is a smart lady... Well I had better shut up. Hope there are no folks from Walmart distribution here on our support group and that they don't go telling tales on us. Take care everyone. Guest guest
They certainly are.... she took full loa when I had surgery etc. But once I started chemo she went on intermittent, since chemo was only every other week. She stayed with me during chemo usually 2-3 hours, THEN went to work and did her 12 + day. They if it is for themselves okay, but if it is for a family member if they stay out too long will cut pay.... that was all bull shit (pardon my french)....She still worked a full day, but they deliberately changed her hours to like 9am-5 pm And the alchy was sposed to work 2nd shift, but of course that didn't last very long. Well most stores the people are pretty nice. Not as ours. -- Individually. When I was accused of trying to buy lawn mower that was packaged to go with lawn mover, and I complained about it they said well we aren't going to sell the oil in garden department anymore... completely missed the whole point of my complaint. That blasted bottle of motor oil was setting out big as you please, if not to buy then what????? I will go the the store just couple miles down the road to the one in Harker Heights and they are nice, and funny about half the employees from the Killeen store went over there. Or I will go to the one in Copperas cove they are super nice there. For awhile we didn't even have any grocery dividers, those plastic things that separate one customers groceries from another.... Then all of sudden we had painted sticks, and now finally we have a few again at the store, but some register dont'have them Now that is dumbest thing I ever heard. Where in the heck would these things go? Who would steal them? Why did it take so long to get them in again, that is probably a standard supply item. Just in the last couple weeks, I go to the store and I see clusters of employees on the clock (say 2 or three) standing around and talking with what I assume if off the clock employees and they are discussing walmart business. I think that is a big nono.... Laurie doesn't like the Killeen store cause she says when she has to call them, the manager is never there. He sits at home and draws his bonus because Killeen is a busy store.. Really busy store. I hate going there after NOON. I always try and go in the a.m. Don't really care to go late night as it is busy then too. LOL Well enough griping... No she was by yesterday but Walmart distribution has only ONE day off a year and that used to be Thanksgiving. Now from what I hear they won't have that either. She works a 5 day week Sunday to Thursday, off Friday and Sat. and at least one of those days she has to catch up on her sleep. So I probably won't see her until next Sat. but I do want to go visit the little fat kitties before they get big. All the kitties are getting fixed, mommy finally too. She got pregnant again, and they are going to abort them and spay her. She has had 5-6 litters and that is enough. The last one she only had 3 fat kitties but it took two days. The poor baby. They are her best litter though. Well enough of that too, Makes me want a kitty and Freddie say NO in dog...lOL Take care Jolene
