not cover previous conditions and if I took this company they would and then

after a year we could switch to Blue. Well I am glad we never did the switch:)

Preferred Care has never turned us down for anything. I had a Pet scan a

year ago plus some cat and MRI's in between. Then I was shocked this year they

ok'd the Pet again. I was more shocked when I got a letter in the mail from

them today. They have approved my Pet/Ct scan. I really did not expect them to

as I just had a Pet In March and a CT in May. Now I just have to wait for the

oncologist office or Radiologist to call for the appt. I feel I made the

right choice in starting over and forgetting about the colon surgeon. I now

have

Medicare and my premiums for this insurance started out at 49.00 a month.

Unheard of last year when everybody got raised we got lowered on the Gold to

30.00 a month. I can go to any specialist without a referral and the only test

that needs one is for a Pet scan. I have a 15.00 co pay and none for lab

work. My regular PCP is only 10.00. From what I hear from other people I guess

I

am lucky in this respect. Oh and since I was lucky enough to get the staph

infection that almost killed me I now get a private room and don't pay the

extra. For the rest of my life when I go to hospital I am automatic put in

isolation:) That has never been fully explained to me.

Hil

That's is sooo great, Hil, that they approved the scan!!! What insurance

company is it, if you don't mind me asking...and do they have a website?? If I

retire!!! You can email me off list if you like at _grandmommyandme@..._

My mom had cobra and she recieves disability. They originally said she could

extend it a year but then said that she would of had to of been disabled the

first 30 days or it was 90 days of the coverage under cobra. We are talking

to an attorney. With Blue Cross cancelling her and everything we are hoping

there is a loop hole somewhere.

Yes, Nonnie, something can be done; I am getting mixed messages and with the

surgery and all, I just let it go for now.

I have decided to sell my house and hopefully move into a trailer I loved when I

saw it three years ago (a friend owns it and hasn't lived in it). I am house

poor and sick of it

The name of it is Preferred Care and I will look it up as I am sure they have

a website. I have no idea what area's they cover. I am in the Rochester NY area.

They have even in the past called and asked if I needed anything once they got

the report I had cancer. They also have a nurse number to call 24 hrs a day. I

do have to pay my medicare on top of the 30.00 a month and it does take a bite

out of SS check but from what I hear I am still lucky. I will look up my paper

tomorrow and send you the website. I honestly never expected them to approve

this and would not have been really upset if they had not as I know these tests

are very expensive. I am just glad they did approve it and maybe I will get some

answers after the test with this new Dr. I honestly don't know if I am sitting

here with cancer now or not:)Even the new Dr I saw agreed it may be scar tissue.

can cobra be extended because of disability beyond the usual 18 months of

the cobra period. I know at the end of the cobra period it can be CONVERTED

to an individual or private policy.

If I

could find a decent ins. co. that didn't cost an arm and a leg, I would

retire!!! You can email me off list if you like at _grandmommyandme@..._

Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle
