Guest guest
The test doesn't meet the counting rules but there are several things that make it suspicious - 3 in the red zone (misses a counting rule by one), low lithium, low mercury. There is definitely an adrenal sign. Look on this page: http://www.noamalgam.com/hairtestbook.html just below " Useful information excerpted from Hair Test Interpretation: Finding Hidden Toxicities: " what it says about " Potassium and sodium up with calcium and magnesium down.... " That is the first problem for your NP to address. Where to go next would be Andy's " Amalgam Illness " book. What decisions are you trying to make based on this hair test. Are you trying to decide whether to remove amalgams? chelate? I would say that removing amalgams is a good idea anyway to stop the exposure to mercury. Once amalgams are safely removed and all exposures to mercury stopped (vaccines etc) it would be safe to do a trial of chelation. Symptoms with chelation would confirm toxicity (and I'll bet my money that this person has some mercury toxicity). Have a look through the files and links sections here to make sure that you understand what protocols are harmful so that you don't get hurt during the process. J > > Any comments please. To mercury? To lead? I know several people online who have children whose hair tests did not meet the counting rules, but the kids improved dramatically with chelation. It seems to me you have to take the results of the hair test, and weigh them with your history of exposure, and a symptom list. There is an excellent symptom list in Amalgam Illness. The kids and I started with hair tests, read more about mercury poisoning, looked at our symptoms and history of exposure. Then we decided to do a trial of ten rounds, to re- evaluate afterwards. We've done 65 rounds now. Good luck!
Guest guest
I do have amalgams. I don't know about lead exposure. We had lived in a very old house for 20 years up until 3 1/2 years ago but the walls were wallpapered. I have an ongoing history of liver issues (mild hep - virus unknown) going back well over 50 years to early childhood. I am pesticide sensitive and was exposed to more this spring and summer. That was the start of more problems. I took supplements suggested to me by an environmental doc 10 years ago to deal with this and either I had an adverse reaction over time or I got exposed to more pesticides and got them in my system; there was definitely other neighbors who sprayed for bugs but there might have been more. I curtailed the supplements thinking they were the cause of this flare. I had cleaned the back and under a used refridgerator and got very sick afterwards (several times starting late June). Of course, my mind wasn't working well and it took time to piece all of this together and come up with possible hypotheses. I felt that the fridge had been treated with something that was making me sick and it took until late July to realize this. My last attempt at cleaning gave me severe headache and neck pain immediately afterwards. I have had other neuro symptoms over the summer which are getting better. Eventually I started other supplements to help try to detox pesticides and around the same time I noticed acidic taste in mouth and teeth pains starting in the teeth that have the amalgam fillings. This was early August. My gums also burn but that goes back to before these last tried supplements. I have rotating location pains now in the teeth some evenings and it includes the front teeth which are filling free. I also have these weird smells/odors that flare up at times but these go back to late June or early July I believe if not earlier as they were definitely there before the teeth issues. It was these teeth pains, together with having read that one of these supplements can cause mercury to move that caused me to start thinking mercury poisoning. At that time I joined this and a couple other groups that are related to this, started reading http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ and a couple other sites and tried to figure out what to do next. I ordered the hair test 2 weeks ago and had seen my NP this week but didn't have the test result yet. I mailed her a copy this morning. We talked about the symptoms I was having. Since she has never seen any results of this test before it is all new for her and I don't know what resources she has to get help evaluating the report. I live in an area which is underserved by medical personnel. I can get into a specialist but it means 2 hours drive at least (spouse can drive) and the NP's question the other day was, what kind of specialist. Going to a super-specialist would require more planning and overnight travel such as a medical school or even a mercury free dentist. I am very aware of chelation problems having read a lot on these groups. I am aware of my own recent reactions that might be contributed to supplements I had taken before. I am aware that doing mercury replacement might cause more problems, but I am also aware that since the amalgams are there, they have to also be contributing to the toxic load. I have to admit I haven't bought Andy's book yet so I can read those sections about this Na, K, Mg, Ca issue. I noticed there was a sentence on the DD report saying it needs further investigation and we (NP and I) probably need help determining what is needed. I gave the NP the url for Andy's site and the counting rules information in what I mailed today. I hope this can answer more of my background. I thank the people who have replied so far and thank in advance others who can help provide ideas.
Guest guest
Jules I have some of these same symptoms, teeth burning that have the amalgam fillings, occasiocal tinny taste in mouth and burning and occasional fuel/chemical smells that i can almost taste So i would suggest A) getting Andy's book trying to do some of the basic tests to dtermine your overall health (Adrenal's seems to be the one that most on this forum suggest and in AI that Andy recommends as it seems people with mercury have messed up adrenals). Thyroid is another. There are sone home self tests (temp meassurement for instance that I believe are in the Files/or Links section of this forum page..see upper left section of this page) C) Start with other supplements that the AI book recommends, tailoried of course to your symptoms: ie zinc, fish oil, flax oil viatmin e D) I have found the niacinamide, selenomethionine and grapefruit juice (per Andy's book) has helped my chemical sensitivities immensely. E) consider food eliminations tests to see if you improve (ie sulphur seems to be a problem for many people, as well as processed foods) F) making a plan with a safe dentist to get those fillings out G) avoid cilantro/chorella/ and whatever else you may be using to chelate right now until you get the book . Also the more serious chelators that AI recommends (ie dpms/dmsa/ala) should only be used after amalagam removal H) be judicious with your NP, don't let them get too offtrack with treatments that do not fit the AI protocol and or run his/her treatments by some of the more knowledgeable people on this forum (i am a newbie) Good luck, I also have these weird smells/odors that flare up at times but > these go back to late June or early July I believe if not earlier as they were definitely there before the teeth issues. > > It was these teeth pains, together with having read that one of these supplements can cause mercury to move that caused me to start thinking mercury poisoning. > I am very aware of chelation problems having read a lot on these > groups.
