weelll, my daughters were given the option to choose their regular daily

tasks - I said feed the cats or empty the dishwasher and take it in turns.

nah! they discussed it. one wants to feed the cats all the time, the other

doesn't want to feed (makes her feel sick) and hates the dishwasher too - so

she elected to clean out the litter tray every day - and what is more she

has, with no complaints and excellent attention to detail and handwashing -

wow, I am impressed!

it is amazing the effect having said we can have hamsters if we get good

behaviour has had...

As a hamster lover, I am always a bit worried about households

containing both cats and hamsters. Especially having read the

sickening headless and disembowelled mice threads on here which

everyone seemed to relate with such glee. I have heard too many

stories of cats getting at hamsters no matter how careful the owners

were.

We have always had both cats and hamsters and one has never become a meal for

the other, not even when Rob (female hamster unlucky enough to have been bought

when Rob kicked the winning goal against Australia - she also gloried in

half-a-dozen other England players' names) escaped from her home on at least 6

occasions. Maybe we just have thick cats.....

Yea I guess so, but I just wouldn't relax for a minute if I had a cat

and a hamster at the same time! Not that we ever had cats, the only

pet we've had since we got married has been The Podge RIP.

It might not be the cat you need to worry about! My friends son had

two gerbils. He went to clean them out one day and discovered that

one of them had eaten the other. Just a leg and the rump left in the

cage. :-(

this worries me - but we know lots of dual households with no

problems - so

I have allowed myself to be convinced. The hamsters - may now be

gerbils -

will be in rooms in which the cats are not allowed.

I personally am not much looking forward to it - but certain others

are, big

time!
