weelll, my daughters were given the option to choose their regular daily

tasks - I said feed the cats or empty the dishwasher and take it in turns.

nah! they discussed it. one wants to feed the cats all the time, the other

doesn't want to feed (makes her feel sick) and hates the dishwasher too - so

she elected to clean out the litter tray every day - and what is more she

has, with no complaints and excellent attention to detail and handwashing -

wow, I am impressed!

it is amazing the effect having said we can have hamsters if we get good

behaviour has had...

Ruthie,

Mice and rats caught in the garden, are ok, because they are vermin, and its

a cats nature to kill (I am a strict vegetarian but understand the nature of

animals!)

I agree hamsters and pet mice do not mix with cats, but anyone who keeps them

together is obviously going to make sure they are kept well apart. I used to

keep my pet mice in the porch (which we never used, as have always prefered

back door). My cats never even knew they were there!

A freind of one of my boyfriends (years ago), used to keep pet mice and breed

them, and then let his cats kill them. When I found this out I punched him

in the eye (well he deserved it), I also removed one of his kittens, which

was obviously infested with all sorts, and I still have the bandy legged

crature today! I dont condone violence, but when a person is outrightly

cruel to an animal, I make an exception!! :)

Finally, I think you have to laugh at cats and dogs antics, and the presents

they leave, otherwise what are you going to do? They will keep on regardless!

May as well laugh!

this worries me - but we know lots of dual households with no problems - so

I have allowed myself to be convinced. The hamsters - may now be gerbils -

will be in rooms in which the cats are not allowed.

I personally am not much looking forward to it - but certain others are, big

time!
